Family Photo Session in Our Lane Cove Studio

Fresh from a sun-soaked Gold Coast holiday, this lovely family of seven embraced an impromptu portrait session in my Lane Cove studio when Sydney’s weather took an unexpected turn. They brought with them boundless energy, humour, and a few unconventional propsβ€”like a three-year-old who insisted on talking about binsβ€”but soon transformed the indoor space into a stage filled with laughter, connection, and pure family magic.

We started indoors under soft studio lightsβ€”snuggles, tickles, cosy couch moments. Once everyone settled, and the rain drizzled outside, we ventured into the adjacent outdoor nook, where natural light and greenery breathed life into candid shots of the children exploring and playing.

Why Lane Cove Studio Sessions Are So Special

  • Indoor comfort + outdoor charm. Rain or shine, you get the best of both worlds in a relaxed, private setting.

  • Playful flexibility. From spontaneous bin chats to giggles under umbrellas, sessions flow naturallyβ€”guided by the children.

  • Light that flatters. Studio softness meets garden glowβ€”perfect for families and timeless portraits.

How We Designed the Session

  1. Warm welcome. A quick chat with Mum about the kids’ personalitiesβ€”like the ever-curious bins fan!

  2. Indoor family portraits. Cozy moments on couches, snuggles, and genuine interaction under soft lighting.

  3. Outdoor playtime. The kids ran, laughed, and explored just outside the studio doorsβ€”candid joy captured beautifully.

  4. Guided silliness. Little prompts like β€œpretend you’re picking flowers” turned into genuine smiles and sibling connections.

  5. Natural wrap-up. We finished with casual poses by the doorwayβ€”rain, laughter, and a shared sense of contentment.

By the end, the family felt like themselvesβ€”relaxed, connected, and capturing memories that were as real as they were beautiful.
